单词 | ripple |
释义 | ripple 1 . A surface wave on a liquid having so short a wavelength that the motion of the wave is dominated by surface tension, i.e. the wavelength must be less than 2π(γ/ρg)½, where γ is the surface tension and ρ the density of the liquid and g is the acceleration of free fall. In the case of water, the wavelength must be less than 1.7 cm. Patterns made in mud or sand by currents in the water that flows over them are called ripple marks . 2(in electricity) The alternating-current component of a direct-current power supply resulting from sources within the power supply. |
