单词 | red dwarf |
释义 | red dwarf A dim and cool dwarf star (i.e. one that has a low luminosity and a lower temperature than all other dwarf stars). The diameter of such stars is about half that of the sun and their surface temperature lies between 2000K and 3000K. It is thought that red dwarf stars are the most common type of star in the universe. The name red dwarf was suggested by the Danish astronomer Ejnar Hertzsprung (1873–1969). A red dwarf white star is a star with a surface temperature less than 400K, which is about 10 000 times fainter than the sun. In these stars radiation from the surface has cooled the star very rapidly |
