单词 | radio |
释义 | radio A means of transmitting information in which the transmission medium consists of electromagnetic radiation. Information is transmitted by means of the modulation of a carrier wave in a transmitter; the modulated carrier wave is fed to a transmitting aerial from which it is broadcast through the atmosphere or through space. A receiving aerial forms part of a resonant circuit, which can be tuned to the frequency of the carrier wave, enabling the receiver that it feeds selectively to amplify and then to demodulate the transmitted signal. A replica of the original information is thus produced by the receiver. See also radio transmission |
