释义	Kirchhoff, Gustav Robert (1824–87) German physicist, who in 1850 became a professor at Breslau and four years later joined Robert Bunsen at Heidelberg. In 1845, while still a student, he formulated Kirchhoff's laws concerning electric circuits. With Bunsen he worked on spectroscopy, a technique that led them to discover the elements caesium (1860) and rubidium (1861)
