单词 | gas |
释义 | gas A state of matter in which the matter concerned occupies the whole of its container irrespective of its quantity. In an ideal gas, which obeys the gas laws exactly, the molecules themselves would have a negligible volume and negligible forces between them, and collisions between molecules would be perfectly elastic. In practice, however, the behaviour of real gases deviates from the gas laws because their molecules occupy a finite volume, there are small forces between molecules, and in polyatomic gases collisions are to a certain extent inelastic (see equation of state) |
